26 months and 26 weeks

I got a notification from Baby Centre the other day telling me about my 26 month old. I thought they were mistaken because Paisley was only 26 weeks old, not 26 months. But, then, I realised they were talking about Carys. Then, suddenly, I said "Whoa! I actually have a 26 month old?". It's unreal. When Darren and I look at photos of Carys when she was 26 weeks old, we can't believe it. We've almost forgotten that time with her. Good thing we have picutres to bring us back to that special time. I know we'll be saying the same thing about Paisley when she's 26 months old. By then, Carys will be almost 4 *sigh* and the age gap will somehow narrow as they'll not longer be known as the toddler and the newborn. That gap is already closing in, now, as Paisley grows and exists the newborn stage.

The 26 weeks old (6 months):

  • is the apple of our eye
  • is one heck of a gorgeous baby;
  • sits up (almost on her own);
  • she laughs, giggles and squeals;
  • babbles and says "babababababa" and "lalalalalala";
  • beams with delight when she sees her "papa" and upsets easily if he leaves her sight;
  • is improving on her sleep habits;
  • enjoys watching her big sister play and can watch her for a long, long time;
  • loves the exersaucer;
  • enjoys going for car rides (yay!);
  • eats, heartily and with gusto, 2 solid food servings a day (cereal, bananas, avocado, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, peas);
  • is digesting her formula better;
  • loves tapping her foot when sitting in the Bumbo;
  • loves to chew on books;
  • has a wicked baby mullet that we still haven't chopped off;
  • has the most beautiful blue eyes and the best smile;
  • sleeps better when swaddled (why was this discovered so late in the game?);
  • weighs a hefty 17 lbs and wears 9-12 month clothes;
  • loves having a bath;
  • is a generally happy, easy going baby;
  • doesn't cry easily- only at night;
  • still wakes up a few times a night but only once for a bottle;
  • naps, on average, 3 times a day with a short one at the end of the day;
  • isn't a big fan of the soother like her sister was;
  • goes to sleep at 7 pm;
  • doesn't really like tummy time or being on her back for that matter- she has incredible neck muscles from trying to sit up when placed on her back;
  • loves music and loves when you sing to her.

The 26 month old (2 years and 2 months):

  • is the apple of our eye;
  • has the prettiest big, brown eyes;
  • is too cute for words;
  • is one smart cookie- and I don't just say this because she's my kid;
  • knows her address, counts to 20 (with a few numbers missing in between), sings "O, Canada", sings the alphabet and knows her colours and shapes;
  • speaks only in French, with the exception of a few English words here and there;
  • loves playing outside and going to the park;
  • has very little interest in T.V. ;
  • is obsessed with rocks and books;
  • asks to go for a nap;
  • loves and adores her papa;
  • loves to help out (cleaning up, throwing stuff out);
  • wants and insists on putting on her own shoes, clothes etc.- and does a pretty fine job at it;
  • is a sweet, sweet girl;
  • is funny and witty;
  • doesn't like milk very much;
  • has lovely little curls;
  • loves going to the bibliotheque and le magasin;
  • has travelled extensively for a 2 year old and only more to come;
  • prefers playing with household items rather than her toys;
  • is good at begging and pleading and knows, somehow, her parents will give in;
  • knows to ask the other parent for something when the other has just said "no";
  • has more shoes than necessary, but that's my fault
  • is kind of bossy with the dogs and her parents;
  • orders the dogs around and imitates her parents very well: "GO lie down!";
  • really enjoys going to Trena's (her babysitter's) every Wednesday.
