Good-bye, soother.

It was bitter sweet- For me, not her. The soother was a bone of contention around here for a long, long time. I don't know why. I should have just known and accepted that she would have decided for herself that she no longer wanted it/needed it. When Carys was 16 months, we took it away during the day and she only used it at night. Then, almost a year to the day and after the move into the new house, the soother made its appearance, again, during the day. We attributed it to an insecurity thing so we allowed it. We slowly got it back to night time use until last week. It was time for bed and we were searching frantically for the one-and-only soother that she had left. It was nowhere to be found. All the other ones had been thrown in the garbage, by Carys, because they were "broken". So, it was off to bed without her soother. There were tears, but only for a few brief moments. It's now been a whole week and a half and all is good. She has occasionally asked for it and it's actually heart-breaking because she just loved that thing and it was such a comfort for her.
