Our Saturday started off perfectly. Coffee, a napping baby, chilling out on the deck and then off to Waterloo park. We brought a blanket and some snacks for a "snack picnic". When we got there, Carys' eagle eyes spotted the swings immediately and so that was our first pit-stop.
We, then, proceeded to find the animals, but with 30 degree temperatures, most of them were hiding out in the shade. We did see some cool roosters and chickens and peacocks, a goat, a donkey and some sheep.
Then, it was time to relax on our blanket. Paisley was fast asleep in her stroller so we got to enjoy some very relaxing moments while Carys snacked away. This picnic was a first for us and I can't believe we hadn't done it sooner. When Carys saw me pull out the blanket, her eyes lit up. What's wrong with us for not doing more of these simple, small things?
When Paisley woke up, she had her first picnic bottle.
Then played with grass.
Snack time over, time to kick the ball around.

It was probably one of the best moments in my life. Seriously. It was as though life had stopped for a minute... or 20. Every worry and stress (selling this *bleeping* house) were gone. All 3 of us (with Paisley close by), sitting in the shade, on a blanket, enjoying the quietness and the stillness of life and nature. I wish every day could be a picnic on a blanket.

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out at home. It's nice when there aren't any weekend obligations (well, we had a little 1 year old birthday party for our friend, Hunter, but that was hardly an obligation).
We spent most of our time on the deck, which we love, love, love. We bought a blow up pool for Carys, knowing full well that it was probably going to be a no-go. Even though it was bazillion degrees of hotness outside, she didn't want any part of it. She is still afraid of water. Well, I'm not sure she's afraid of water but she is super reluctant to trying it out.
She let us dip her feet in while kicking and screaming. Paisley didn't seem to mind the pool. Maybe she'll be different than her sister.
So we tried the octopus sprinkler. This was the coolest thing ever because it shoots out mist. She tolerated the sprinkler, mildly for about 5 seconds, until she insisted on watching it from the deck.
Rumour has it that we're in for a hot, hot Summer. Let's hope that she, at least, attempts to enjoy the water before August.
